How do I get student attention?
It is important in the classroom to get and keep student attention. If students are not listening they are not learning. I plan to make lessons and activities interactive so that students are engaged throughout the school day. I plan to use musical transitions, call and response phrases, and quiet coyote.
Are students learning?
As teachers we are not doing our job if students are not learning. We can assess student learning through assessments. These assessments can include formative and summative. I plan on having students complete an exit ticket everyday to assess their learning and comprehension.
Am I meeting student needs?
Differentiation is important in every classroom. We need to adapt to fit the needs of our students. I plan to group my students based on their needs. I will pull appropriate resources. I will pace the class accordingly. Also, I plan on having different tasks for different learners when needed.
How will I keep an organized classroom?
Organization eliminates a lot of headache as a teacher. I plan on keeping a file system and maintaining an organized atmosphere. Lessons will be prepared a head of time. Students will know expectations, guidelines, and procedures so everything runs as smooth as possible (even though things do go wrong everyday).
How do I work to improve my teaching?
Teaching is a drastically changing profession. As teachers we need to change to fit our students needs. I plan to go to meetings and professional development classes throughout my teaching career. I will better myself and my class by adapting.
